Across the world, communities are responding to deep social, economic, and ecological crises with bold local solutions. Transformative Cities is a platform to connect, amplify and learn from these efforts, showcasing how citizens, movements and municipalities are already creating change through cooperation, solidarity and democratic participation.
At the heart of the initiative is the Atlas de Utopías, a living collection of inspiring transformations in housing, energy, water and food systems. These stories highlight not only practical solutions but also the power of collective action to shift power dynamics and build more just and sustainable communities.
Premio del Público de Ciudades Transformadoras
The Transformative Cities People’s Choice Award ran for four editions between 2018 and 2022, supporting visibility and exchange between dozens of inspiring local initiatives. While the award is currently inactive, we are seeking opportunities to revive it in 2026. In the meantime, this platform continues as a working archive and space for exchange, supporting mutual learning between communities working towards systemic change.

Creemos que la amplificación de los cambios en distintos lugares puede ayudar a facilitar la transformación radical a escala global, es decir, a una transformación sistémica. El cambio, en distintas formas, se está produciendo en todo el mundo y, a veces, es difícil saber dónde mirar. Ciudades Transformadoras puede entenderse como un telescopio que nos ayude a navegar por la compleja galaxia de luchas y cambios radicales que se están viviendo a escala local en todo el mundo.
